Gray langur: facts, danger and how to survive it
A large, long-tailed, gray monkey that often feeds on the ground. Its alarm call warns other animals of danger.
About the real animal
The gray, or Hanuman, langur is a large, long-tailed monkey with grey fur and a black face. It is common across India, lives in troops led by a dominant male, and feeds on leaves, fruit and flowers, often on the ground. It is regarded as sacred in many parts of India. Langurs give alarm calls when they see a predator, and other animals, including deer, understand them.
