Escape the Deep Forest

King cobra: facts, danger and how to survive it

Lies coiled with its hood spread when it is still, hisses as a warning and strikes if you step too close; it uncoils and glides away when it sets off. A bite can poison.

About the real animal

The king cobra is the longest venomous snake in the world, and can grow to more than five metres. Its main food is other snakes, and it is the only snake that builds a nest: the female gathers leaves into a mound and guards the eggs. A king cobra raises the front third of its body off the ground, spreads a narrow hood and hisses with a low growl more like a dog than a snake. It is shy and avoids people, but a bite carries enough neurotoxic venom to kill a large animal.

In the game

The king cobra lies coiled with its head and hood raised when it is still, hisses as a warning and strikes if you step too close. When it moves, it uncoils and glides away. A bite poisons you. Watch your feet in tall grass and near the river, and step around it. Antivenom or a bandage and rest help.
