Escape the Deep Forest

Wild boar: facts, danger and how to survive it

Sturdy and short-tempered, rooting in the undergrowth in family groups. A sow with piglets will charge.

About the real animal

The wild boar is an omnivore with a bristly coat, a long snout for rooting and tusks that grow throughout its life. Females live in family groups with their young, which are striped in the first months; adult males are mostly solitary. Boars wallow in mud to cool down and to protect their skin from insects. They are intelligent and adaptable, eat roots, nuts, insects and carrion, and when cornered or when protecting young they charge head-down with the tusks.

In the game

Boars are sturdy and short-tempered. They root through undergrowth in family groups, and a sow with piglets will charge at you. A boar charges in a straight line with its head down and cannot turn quickly, so step aside at the last moment. The meat is good if you win the fight. Keep your distance from groups with young.
